Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Lucy who loved to look up at the stars and imagine all the places they might take her. One night, when she looked out her bedroom window and up into the night sky, she noticed something strange in the corner of her eye. She squinted, and could just make out a glimmer of light twinkling in the darkness.
Excitedly, Lucy leapt out of bed and grabbed her telescope. As she brought it up to her eye and pointed it in the direction of the twinkle, she noticed that next to it was a little door that seemed to be made of starlight itself.
She opened it and peered inside, astonished to find an incredible array of galaxies and celestial wonders that no human being had ever seen before! But then she heard a voice calling out to her from deep within the telescope: “Come explore me!”
Without hesitation, Lucy stepped through the doorway and into the telescope. Before her eyes lay an array of planets that seemed to stretch on for eternity! As she flew from one planet to another, exploring each new sight with wonder and excitement, Lucy felt as if she were in a dream!
Suddenly, she heard someone calling out behind her:
“Welcome! I am your guide on this incredible journey – my name is Cosmos!”
When Lucy turned around, she saw an old wizard with a long beard standing there with an armful of books about astronomy and space exploration.
“Come with me” he said kindly “and I will show you what lies on the other side of these stars…” With that he waved his hands over them and they both vanished through one of them!
In front of them loomed an incredibly vast universe filled with galaxies that shimmered like diamonds in the night sky – some so far away they seemed like tiny specks! Cosmos explained how each star represented something special – from distant civilizations to spectacular comets – all for Lucy’s eyes only!
Everywhere Cosmos pointed his finger new worlds were revealed- from binary star systems to ancient nebulae- each one more remarkable than what came before it! The longer they explored together, the more Lucy began to understand just how magical this telescope really was!
At last they arrived at their destination -the end of their journey- but before they could explore any further Cosmos told her it was time for them both to go back home as morning was coming soon. Reluctantly but excitedly , Lucy returned through the door into her own bedroom – still clutching onto all of her newly gained knowledge about space exploration as if it were a precious gift- until finally , exhausted but inspired ,she fell asleep dreaming about adventure in some distant galaxy far away…
From then on whenever she looked into her telescope , no matter how far away it took her , Lucy knew that no matter what happened if ever she needed help or wished for adventure then Cosmos would come find her again…
